As a beginner, you can spend a lot of money initially.
  • The most important thing is to taking a first time lesson at first.   Don't let your friends teach you for the first time cause that's not a great way to learn.  Do the 1st timer package which includes everything you need(equipments, a beginner lift ticket and instructions)
  • Even if you aren't a first timer any more, but you are still a beginner.  Then you still get the first timer package to get more practice in beginner runs.  You don't need to go for school if you don't want to
  • Don't rush to buy your equipment.  It's a significant investment.
    • For whatever reason, you may not enjoy ski sports after you try it
    • You are a super quick learner.  You can out-grow your gear really quick
  • You should learn in a resort that's not crowded and has good long beginner runs
    • You want to spend more time with your instructors.  so it really helps if the ski/snowboarding school is not crowded so that your instructor can pay more attention to each student
    • Beginners are usually worried about losing control and running into people on the slope.  Learning in a less crowded resort can ease your worry
    • Having a good long run means that you can really practice your turning and speed control

What do I need to bring for my first trip?

Must have:

Hats, Jacket (waterproof is better), Gloves / Mittens (waterproof is better), Ski Pants, Goggle, Sun Block

Nice to have:

Helmet, Under Layers, Wrist Guard (for snowboarders), scarf, extra pants & bath towel (to use after trip)
