Every early Decemeber, a couple of Tahoe resorts offer beginner packages at a cheap price.

You should get to resorts earlier to sign up.  They may sell out the package/rental equipment.  If you go Sat, and want to go for the same package again on Sun, you should ask resorts to hold your rentals so that you don't need to line up for an hour to get your rentals again on Sun.
